Coastal Florida Recovery and Resiliency Partnership Project:
Resilient Community Strategies for Hurricane Ian Recovery
The Coastal Florida Recovery and Resiliency Partnership Project (R2P2) supported three communities: The City of Fort Myers, the Town of Fort Myers Beach, and the City of Sanibel. The three communities were severely impacted by Hurricane Ian (September 2022) and are closely connected spatially across the impact area. Each community maintains a strong independence in setting local resilience goals but recognizes the value in partnering with county, state, federal, and non-governmental organizations in their long-term recovery planning.
Reports for each municipality are now available to view and download on the respective pages linked above. The entire planning team wishes to thank everyone that helped contribute to this effort, including the team of federal partners, city and town staff and officials, and all the many community members that attended Design Workshop events, stakeholder meetings, and participated in the online survey.
What is R2P2?
R2P2 is a community-focused EPA Disaster Recovery program providing technical assistance to support long-term resiliency through public engagement, design concepts, and implementation strategies.
The intended result of R2P2 Technical Assistance is to improve the communities’ resilience to future flooding events, improve protection of natural resources, and increase long-term sustainability.
